Mulholland Drive - 6/10 - too weird for me. Normally I like movies that make me think but this one just left me confused and disappointed. I guess this is one of those ones where I have to read an explanation on the internet.
Name and Rate the Last Movie You Saw
Hot Rod - 4/10
?!?!?!??
"Well, I got off work early, and you know my buddy Derrick? Well he was like, "I've got this acid, but I can't do it." And I was all like, "Well, I'll do it." So I did it. And by the time I got on my banana board, man, I was... I was tripping balls pretty hard, man. So I decided to get on my bench grinder."
Joe-With Nicholas Cage and one of the kids who played in Mud, kind of similar but still completely different movies actually pretty dark in a lot of certain aspects and twisted ways of the Southern American society this one was. But it honestly was still good regardless of the dark storyline. I would give it a solid 7/10.
Deep Impact-Actually been eyeing this movie to watch for awhile honestly because even though it's an old one I still wanted to watch it regardless. Which it actually wasn't half bad Elijah Woods looks damn young in it though that's for sure lol and the storyline kept me interested enough. Morgan Freeman was also in it but honestly that old man is in everything wasn't surprised there. All in all I would give it a solid 7.5/10.
Oh oh right and watched some fucked up Lifetime movie.....but that's nothing to rate over honestly.
Mulholland Drive is my favorite David Lynch film. I recommend maybe read up on it and try to watch it again sometime in the future. The plot isn't obvious especially if you're not used to his style, but there's certainly a lot to be taken away from that movie. It's a Hollywood movie that shits on Hollywood.
The Holy Mountain 7.5~8/10
This was a really dense and experimental movie. I literally just finished it an hour ago so it's still digesting. I can say that I liked it a lot, I can see why people consider it Jodorowsky's best. I think my only complaint lies within the pacing (which is something I usually don't complain about).
I didn't do anything tonight so I watched weird movies. I started Trash Humpers earlier and made it 30 mins through. Now it's 3am and I put it back on and I'm realizing how fucked this movie is

I agree. 4/10 is a travesty for how amazing that movie is. For shame.
Edit: Like you had that rated worse than pain & Gain, Olympus has Fallen, Lucy, Tokyo Drift, Brick Mansions, Etc.
American Sniper 3/10
Movie was good and honestly might've been a 7 or 8/10 for me if it didn't claim to be a "true story". Anyone with a little insight on the war in Iraq and on the real story of Chris Kyle will see that this is just a whole lot of made up bullshit, made up to glorify a liar and a war criminal, leaving a completely wrong image of the guy.
Bradley Cooper's acting was fantastic though.
Yeah, and I'm not trying to start the whole "Was Chris Kyle a good guy"-discussion either, war is war and no one knows how it impacts you before you've been there. Just criticizing the movie for not putting all the facts on the table instead of portraying the guy to be this all good, hero-type as they did. And more so criticizing for making up situations and characters plots.
And please don't get me wrong, I'm not at all implying that everyone that served in Iraq are war criminals. Chris Kyle has been linked to some shady stuff.
Half of the PMC/Iraq War vets I've met sound way worse than whatever you think chris kyle was like. I'm not defending the movie's integrity but the general consensus about these controversial films always comes back to "is it accurate"... It's a fucking movie. It's a glorified assortment of moving pictures meant for entertainment. This is why I try not to watch any self proclaimed "true story" movies because it will always rise some sort of social justice implications within me, but if you go into the film with problems then you'll of course leave with some heavy spite towards it.
John Wick 7/10
What we do in the shadows 8/10
Fury 6/10 (still enjoyable just pretentious with no proper closure)
i really, really loved it up until |see spoiler|. Up until then, i was wondering how it was not even nominated for best picture, but i got it at the end. it got a little too 'hollywoody' for me or something, idk. Anyway, still a great movie, and incredibly beautiful, but didn't entirely agree with some of the choices that were made according to the plot.
right when he entered the black hole. at first, i though it was his last imagination after he died (seeing murph in her room and all, 3rd person memories of the past (as dr. Mann said: last thing you see when you die are your children)) and i could have lived with that, but as it continued i figured that was not what happened and was slightly disappointed. then some other not-so-logical things happened and started adding up, and it got all supernaturally, which i dont mind per se, but i didn't think it worked this time, unfortunately.
interstellar: 8/10.

It wasn't supernaturally.. it was futuristic science crap. I duno I didn't like the whole 'love thing' that was kind of cheesey, but makes sense in the context.
