Even threw the accent aigu on that bitch.
Has anyone started playing yet?
Started Thursday but because of work, only started playing yesterday. My highest is a 426 scyther. Don't have too many gyms around me and the only one I battled I got shit on pretty bad but didn't know how to attack. Do you level up really fast on gyms? I've just been trying to level my character up and evolve my pokemon. No sense in maxing out an evolution only to find a better pokemon a few hours later. Waste of candies in my opinion
The general consensus seems to be that you shouldn't waste candies on evolving (apart from Eevee becuase you NEED to) and instead just wait to find the final evo of the line then power that up.
And I need a bike.. can't be driving around in my truck trying to catch these things anymore
It's not available in Canada yet but many are just getting the apk or using US iTunes accounts. There was apparently 75 people at a 'square' in my city last night trying to find pokemon.
Genius idea for a game tbh. Hope it keeps being really popular. Could be a big step towards making gaming more 'healthy'.
Is there a gaming aspect to Pokemon Go? I see everyone talking about the augmented reality semi-geocaching thing but not much mention of actual gameplay.
There's a pretty shotty 2-attack (press/hold on phone) battling system there when you battle gyms, which are hot spot areas that you can leave your pokemon at to defend (gaining you points you can spend in the shop). hot spot areas are either pokestops (where you can collect items every couple minutes) or gyms, if you aren't aware.
Otherwise it basically breaks down by catching as many pokemon as you can, as each capture gives you an elixer you use to level up your pokemon. You get 3 candies specified to your pokemon each time you catch one, and a 4th one if you decide to catch-and-release the pokemon. Leveling up costs a combination of a certain amount of elixer based on your pokemon level and 1 candy, while evolving pokemon requires only candies but dependent varies dependent on the pokemon. The leveling system pretty much dictates that you should always be catching something to gain elixer to power up your stronger guys and gain candies to evolve pokemon you already have. Additionally there is a trainer level system which you can gain XP from most things. There are a ton more things in the game like eggs, lures, etc. but those are the basic game mechanics.
Oh and the best part is that the app needs to be open, so things such as steps needed towards opening an egg cant register if the app is closed. Drained the shit out of my phone the first day I played.
At level 8 and honestly feels like it gets stale pretty quickly since there is nothing to train them for outside of gym battles. Its built off an existing gaming called Ingress I believe so I dont expect too much to change, into something like PvP for example.
then again its also rivaling Twitter for data usage on iPhone's lol.
Update out today
1.01 on iOS
29.1 on Android

They need to let us use 6 pokemon at guns where our own team owns that gym. It's not worth using 1 pokemon vs like 5 when my team has super control over that gym. I can't 1 v 5 it.. and it's not even worth all the revive and potions to use when im only helping my gym out 100 experience and they need 2k for the next upgrade
Also I walked around yesterday for over an hour. Put an incense on, lucky egg while there are 2 lures at pokestops. Went around in a small circle where there are 10 pokestops to level up fast. Caught maybe like 5 pokemon in an hour, hour and a half. Last night I'm at work and I'm hooking up my trailers(I'm a semi driver), I caught 14 pikemon in around 40 minutes with no incense.. how? They kept popping up right after another. Just thought how random this game can be
I'm sure they'll have different levels of gyms. People are going to get too high and let's say you start a week from now, you never be able to catch up. Kind of how I feel right now. I started two days late and still don't have a 700 cp pokemon while I saw an 1800 vaporeon at a gym yesterday

I read that Ingress was built off cell phone usage so areas that had more cell phone usage would see more activity. Assuming that pokemon is using a lot of the same code that probably still holds true (I personally have found more pokemon in the city center parks and found little to nothing in small fishing areas). That and you can also abuse spawn points of pokemon using ingress (if you can find an XM point or something like that in Ingress that is where pokemon will most likely spawn). Suddenly 5 pokemon will just appear every 5 minutes if you find such an area.
Another thing to consider is that when you are driving you are covering a lot more distance so Pokemon are going to appear in larger numbers in shorter amounts of time. My group of friends either A: Go to the city center and just hang around all of the lures or B: drive around large areas like a campus where you can drive around in parking lots. Those are definitely more efficient than walking around or dropping a lure/incense in a smaller area. Which is kind of discouraging, I really wish I could go take a nice walk into some nearby woods and find stuff you would typically find in Viridian Forest.
I did hear vaporeon is the strongest evolution. More health , netter attacks, etc. I think they should he even
It's been 4 days since you said you had an 1100 snorlax. My max is close to a 1k pinsir. I've been going down town for about an hour and a half every day since I'm woking over 11hr shifts. I'll be playing a lot more this weekend but it feels too much like a grind. I need more new pokemon to encounter and it seems like all the gyms are my team so I can't 1 v 5 a team.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jT1hblLQ9HOflAE2GxIlgu1-UFD1joFR... I used this to kind of see what my pokemons cp will be once I evolve it. Ended up evolving my 263 evee into a vaporeon and upgraded it so it's a little over 1000cp. I never find the bastards anymore. Found over a 450 cp evee just sitting at bdubs and evolved it into a jolteon. If you guys name them Rainey, sparky or Pyro should evolve it into what evolution you want. I'm 2 for 2 for what I want
I'm 2/3rds way to 16. Highest is a 1080 flareon got last night for a 420 eevee. Everything else is 5-600.
Lost a scyther at the park last night. When leaving we found it again 2 blocks away. Chased for another 2 blocks. Got out and walked all around this crosswalk while it jumped from 1st to 4th place before eventually disappearing. Fucking servers.
This is why this game needs updated. My 1000cp jolteon loses to my own 1014 vaporeon? How the fuck is that possible? Vape y u so OP?
Then I face a pidgeot with my jolteon and it's 200 cp below me and it gets me down to like 30% health.. I should have that thing beat so fucking fast
