A very good tournament so far!
Hungrybox/Mew2King won the doubles finals vs Armada/Android.

Mang0 just won the first map of his set against Silent Wolf.

He literally just finished the set as I was posting this.

I never knew how competitive Smash could get, I thought I was good but im actually some ass lol
You should include links to the Smash doc and also link the old thread in OP. Surely it will inspire someone here in the future to get competitive with it like it has done for some here already.
Been watching all day, but I have to hop off soon because of Super Bowl stuff. Looking like a mang0 vs. HB finals, yeah? Should be awesome. Rooting for mang0.

I've never been into competitive Smash, I only ever owned the 64 edition, and I've played the others minimally. I took my time to watch the entire Smash Brothers documentary though, and holy fuck did it drag me in.

Smash reminds me so much of Halo with how the second installment is the fastest, most competitive one, where you have a list of glitches that can enhance your plays if you master them, and timing them perfectly goes down to hitting the right buttons at the right frames in a second. There's still a ton of love for the later games, even though they in many ways tightened up the skill gap, and that's very much like Halo as well. That blows my mind.

Watching this is so entertaining, because it's how I used to look at Halo back in the day. Now I feel like Halo to me is what Smash is to these guys, it's second nature, and everything that happens is already programmed in our minds because of the countless times we've been in the exact same situations. They know what to do just like I know what to do when I get cornered in Halo, but I don't know this game, so seeing all of these combos and tricks is sooo fucking cool. It's bringing me back to simpler times, when I just enjoyed watching something because of how cool it was, and because I knew I couldn't pull it off.

YISSSS TOP 8 IS STILL ON AFTER THE SB.

the competitive smash scene has never been stronger and the storylines are amazing. there has never been a better time to start watching the competitive scene.

i cant believe m2k got knocked out by shroomed (2nd time he's lost to him in shiek dittos...). 9th place for em, anybody know how he did in smash4?

stream at 100k concurrent viewers right now, cant imagine what finals will be.

and now he's on the verge of knocking out HB :0

hbox clutches it out, excited to see who else he'll have to go through in losers. if amsa beats KK here shits going to get beyond hype. amsa has proven he can beat top shieks.

AMSA TOP 6!!!!! yoshi with all the potential in the world finally being optimized.

ALSO: mango vs leffen has a $1000 bet between the two on top of being for a spot in winner's finals.

Mang0 up next. Let's fucking go.

Never mind I'm high as fuck. PP though?

pp vs armada then leffen vs mango.

i believe the loser of leffen mango plays amsa and the losers of the other hungrybox.

i cannot believe amsa is the 6th spot over m2k, unbelievable.

That Leffen/Mang0 set was so damn good.
leffen is the truth. i think its clear that hes putting way more time into his game than anybody right now. even though mango's falco was doing well, you'd have to think he should consider consider to his (arguably stronger) fox. sure leffen is more familiar with the matchup, but mangos fox is absurd. although, his falco was really on a roll towards the end of the set even though he lost.
Poor ol' Hungrybox

Amsa is so damn fun to watch. He was really pushing Mang0 there for a second.

Edit - Wow, R.I.P. Mang0.

I can't believe it's 2 am EST and there's still over 100K viewers.

mango 4th :((((((

i kinda expect something like that. its the first time he hasnt placed top 3 in over a year.

I feel bad for Leffen. You could tell how bad he wanted it.

i dont think he could have done anything to stop armada's fox. he really should have lost to his fox last time and his chock at the end really told me that armada had that match no problem.

armada playing unbelievable, one of the best foxes ive ever seen. be awesome to see some character counter-picks between armada and pp.

I don't understand anything I'm watching, but it's entertaining.
That was super impressive from PPMD. I don't really get what changed though. I guess just confidence/momentum? Armada looked great in those first two matches, and I was pretty damn surprised that PPMD went back to Marth after wrecking two straight with Falco.

goddam ppmd's reads were just unbelievable in the 2nd set. great showing by armada though, would have loved to have seem em take it.

i will update this thread and post final Apex results after i sleep off my sb drunkness and enevitable hangover.

Andrew: he basically just read armada perfect and Armada was stalling himself a bit too many times setting up for easy punishes. games were all close though, armada definitely played well the 2nd set just not as amazing as he was leading up to it.

That was a sick final, but it was really weird that they were both playing secondaries. PPMD switching back to Marth was a weird move in the first set after basically shredding with Falco.

I didn't get a chance to post last night but the top eight matches were incredible.
Watching Amsa play with yoshi was very entertaining.

I can never see anything inside spoiler tags on the new forums.
Dunno if you guys saw, but my boy Arc played amazingly on stream Day 1.
Is VoD up on VGBootCamp yet?

Nah I'd give it a week or so before they're up. Lot's of editing Gimr has to do.

The set I'm talking about:

http://www.twitch.tv/vgbootcamp/b/618568805?t=3h55m10s

I went to paragon a month ago, met some really cool Orlando smashers, but didn't get to see the Leffen v Armada or HBox finals :( Still really cool. I ended up driving that kid Teach home (the one that missed the knee on melee pool stream). Apparently all Westballz does is smoke weed.

I play a mean Marth/Falco/Peach, Peach being my main. My friends are all really good, know how to tech, approach, wavedash, etc. Met some guys yesterday that were absolutely insane at PM (Zero Suit Samus and G&W wreckage). aMSa really inspired me to learn Yoshi though.

vgbc has to do a better job at uploading their own stream to youtube.

but yeah, i was so happy ppmd won, especially after this:

i love and prefer space animals, but that marth was super fucking crispy

I think instead of gettin an X1 I'm gonna get a Gamecube and get in the lab with Melee.

It's ok....you can admit you only have $30.
