that precomping the song and moving it to a separate panel above your project (zola <3) cuts down the syncing thing considerably...

I think ppl just get too used to auto crossfades in vegas :P

Crossfades look good, but in aae you can make some good unique transitions

At home I use AAE for everything. I'm used to it so I can do the actual editing portion fairly easy, and my computer has problems working with Premiere and Vegas, so that enforces my use of it.

Yeah if I'm gonna sync/cut, Vegas is much more convenient, even though it doesn't run on my computer very well.

I use AE for color correction, motion blur, and other stuff.
I find masking in After Effects to be a lot easier and better in After Effects than in Vegas.
I hate masking in Vegas...

After Effects is also really good for making creative transitions.
