Well, I did something somehow, and messed up some of my settings in after effects.

In Vegas you can hole Ctrl + Shift when you start the application and it resets all of the settings. Is there a way to do something this in After Effects?

BTW:
I looked through the preferences in under the "edit" tab and nothing has helped.
I have also reset my workspace and that also didn't work.


Any help is appreciated.

What did you mess up? If you tell us that, we can probably fix it.

1) When I try to move a layer, this white "X" comes up.
It's very hard to place layers perfectly, because the "X" stays there until I release the mouse, and you can't see the layer it's self move/update in real time. (You just see the "X" Move)

2) AE isn't letting me move layers in Z space. I've tried creating new projects and changing some settings, but it still doesn't do anything when I change the value of "Z".

There are a few more problems, but they are very hard to explain, and they are not as annoying so I can just deal with them.


EDIT: Umm....I guess it's letting me move layers in Z space now.....I don't know what I did to fix it though.

If you've messed up any of the panels, then go to Window>Reset All Panels. Otherwise, you may have to just reinstall.

As far as the big X goes...I just had the same problem. Here's how I fixed it. Right over top of the box where your layers are stacked, there should be a small icon with a double square and an X on one of the squares. just click that icon..It's called the "live update" icon..it should be on the same row as the time counter..(above the 3d layer icon row).hope that helps
