Bring back Ranking System

Many of you may know me and many of you may not, but for those who don't I will give a brief introduction of myself.

My name is Mike Chaves and I go by Flamesword in the pro gaming community. I started playing Halo 2 when it first came out and have been playing ever since. I was finally able to go pro in 2009 during the second season of Halo 3 and won my first event this past year in Halo: Reach. Basically what I am trying to express is how Halo is a lot more than a game to me, but an experience of 4-5 years that I will never forget and I know it is the same with many of you.

Reach hasn't been the best, but I feel 343i have been doing/taking the best course of action to help this game reach its true potential, with such things as adding the Title Update that allows us to play Halo the way it should be and that is No Bloom, and bringing out new remakes of some of the best maps we have ever played during Halo 1 & 2.

I think if 343i was to bring back all the ranked playlists and make it the way Halo 2's ranking system was the game would be played more. Credits are cool and all, but you get them no matter what, you can be playing firefight or multiplayer, it doesn't promote for one to get better at the game and there is no reason to try and improve. Ranks gave everyone a reason to play, I know when I was an H2 noob; maybe I still am

, once I got stuck on a certain rank/level, I would go to youtube or watch the MLG VOD's to see what I could do to improve so I could get past that rank/level of a 21; pre-patch :P, and be able to compete with the new people I got matched up with after getting put into a new rank/level bracket.

Ranked playlist in the past titles kept all gamers happy. For those gamers who are competitive, it allowed us to climb the ranks and meet new competition that had us coming back everyday just to get better. For casual gamers; like many of my friends are, it kept them in lower ranks, but the games where less serious and it allowed them to just kick back and relax and play people who were playing for fun.

Lets be honest, to this day there are less people playing this halo and it has only been out for 1 year. Halo 3 at this time was setting records of reaching the 1 million/billion; don't remember completely, record of logged games.

So what are all your opinions on the matter, did ranks in the past get you to play more or do credits feed you to play more?

Good post man, I see that Flamesword is going to be bringing a lot more people to vote on it.

I think it was a mix of Ranking up and a few other things. For a while there I was just going for montage clips (the montage never materialized in the sense that a lot of people would understand), and I go for a lot of hiding video's.

But I can appreciate all the same how a ranking system would give more incentive for people to play in such a hardcore fashion. Reach for me, isn't about Ranking up, and because of that I don't play it nearly as much as I would want to.

Say what you want about CoD, but at least you still rank up based off of how well you do, even though it doesn't reward you in the same way that H3 or H2 did.

On every forum i go to there is a lot of threads about this 343 should see that we need a ranking system.

A ranking system would be legit. But just fixing one thing wrong with it won't go that far.

I agree. You have to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.
