Something happened to the seedbox, I think rtorrent went down and I'm trying to figure out what's up.

Just give it time and it will be back up.

It's still too bad that we don't have the old hosted section so we don't have to keep an alternate torrent out there just so we can make sure to keep things in existence.

I wonder how much it would cost to host hundreds of 500 to 600mb files with Reach being HD.

Yeah I'm trying to fix it now. One bad shutdown of rtorrent and all of a sudden files get corrupted...it'll be at least a day before everything can be checked just because of the sheer size of the data. I'll post in here as soon as it's back up and running.

There won't be any data loss however. The collection in it's entirety is backed up on my Raid5 array and on another physical disc on my computer- along with another computer at a friends house

So there is no chance of it being lost- just this temporary blip.




@ hosting files... well it's complicated. Technically, you could just get a OVH server for $150\month at most which would have ~3.5TB of usable space (Mythica.org had 2TB I believe) and enough bandwidth to serve up the community. But the problem is that it's in Europe on a not really that good network, so speeds wouldn't be that great. Plus you'd need to desgin a hosting system for it, which wouldn't be cheap or easy.

If someone else wants to do it, by all means they can. I'll even migrate the hosting of this over to the new collection once it's done & help pay for a real seedbox to help seed it initially for the first month or so.

The transfer speed has gotten slower lately, I used to dl at around 500 kb/s. Now is it down to 200 kb/s.

& whatever speed you're going at is entirely peer-limited. I.E it's limited on your physical location to where the server is located.
