The following guide will make your computer play back any type of video file thrown at you, and will play all videos back more efficiently. If you have a MAC, go to http://plexapp.com/ and install it. If you have a PC, follow the tutorial below. This is something everyone should do.

Now, first thing you have to ask yourself: What graphics card do I have? If you don't know, it's no big deal. But if you do know, see if it follows under the list of DXVA compatabile graphics card. DXVA allows your graphics card to play back the video instead of your processor, which is ideal. To find out what graphics card you have, find "run" or "CMD" on your computer (just search it in your programs) and type dxdiag and hit enter. It will give you a list of specs in your computer, including your graphics card. You can find the list of DXVA compatible graphics cards here: Quote:
Installation: Download the K-Lite Codec Pack 6.0.4 (full) that was supplied at the top of the page. Once it finishes downloading, open it. - If it asks to uninstall anything on your computer, let it - Hit "Next" - Select Advanced Install. Hit "Next" - Find the folder you want to install it to your programs (you should leave it at default unless you have a separate hard drive for programs). Hit "Next" - At the top, select "Profile 7: Lots of Stuff". Hit "Next" - Hit "Next" again. - For "settings", leave everything at default. I would suggest enabling "Desktop" under "Additional shortcuts for Media Player Classic" for convenience. Hit Next - Now, remember when you checked what graphics card you had? If your graphics card is DXVA compatible (see list above), "Enable Internal Decoder for H.264". If your graphics card does not fall under that list, of if you do not know what graphics card you use, leave it unchecked. Make sure to use it if your computer supports it, because it is way better. Hit "Next" - Make sure Media Player Classic is checked, and hit "Next" - Don't uncheck anything that is already checked. Make sure the stuff under "Matroska" and MP4 is all checked in the vide (left side) of the screen. In the audio (right side) of the screen, I would recommend checking "FLAC". Hit "Next". - Select the audio configuration that represents what you own. If you don't know, just use 2.0 (stereo), because that is most likely what you have. Hit "Next" - Select "Install". If anything pops up about being "broken" or anything, select "yes". - Select "finish" - Once it finishes, the following web page should open up: http://www.codecguide.com/klcp_update.htm Direct Download: http://www.download.hr/download-k-li...ck-update.html This is an update for the codec pack, I would recommend installing it. Click "Download K-Lite Codec Pack Update", and download it. - Open it, and click "run" - Hit "Next" - Leave everything that is checked selected, and click "Next". Let it install. - IF YOUR GRAPHICS CARD IS NOT DXVA COMPATIBLE, DO NOT DO THE STEP LISTED BELOW Open Media Player Classic. At the top go to "view" > "options" > "internal filters" and on the right column, check "H264/AVC (DXVA). Click "Apply", then "OK", and restart media player classic. Now, when you play a video, on the bottom left corner, it should say "Playing DXVA" whenever you are playing a video, as opposed to it just saying "Playing". Again, if your computer is not DXVA compatible, do not do that step. You're done. Now your computer can play anything anyone throws at you, and more efficiently. Note: When using Media Player Classic, instead of double clicking on the picture to go to full screen, press control + enter. Last edited by FraGTaLiTy; 07-15-2010 at 03:47 PM. |

I have a question.
I have some uncompressed avi. clips from fraps from before i reinstalled. I am now in raid with 2 hdd's and i have some new clips captured with the raid Now onto the problem.. When i play my old clips before the reinstall they play good and smooth. But the clips that were captured in my raid are slow and they skip. I play them with WMP and with the K-lite package installed. Do you know why my new videos play slow? |

edit: Don't use WMP, use MPC Last edited by FraGTaLiTy; 06-26-2010 at 02:29 PM. |

Uninstall your old version of Media Player Classic, the two may be conflicting. Any who, I don't understand why you're playing uncompressed videos in the first place, and I don't get how K-lite could effect that. Because playing an uncompressed video has everything to do with hardware read speed. Was your hard drive doing any other work while you played it? |
