How can I mask a clip that has Twixtor on it, without having to render it out first?

Murr, great thread, i'm surprised no one made this before. Condenses a lot of the simple threads in this forum into one.

To start you off, i'm working on a project. Lets say i added Exposure to a certain level and RSMB to a certain level on the clips, then at certain parts, i put the exposure up from 1.7-3 to sync to the music, either just flashing on the clip or masking and flashing parts. When i try to render, it would get to that part and give me errors along the lines of "Cannot Invoke effect Exposure", "Cannot invoke effect RSMB" etc. So i took those 2 effects off of only the vital parts, and the render still fails there.

I looked online and it said the only way to fix this was to reinstall. There's no way i'm going to reinstall unless i absolutely have to and im not taking those parts off.

Any way around this? Could i ship the render and small project files to someone with a better comp? Currently i'm editing HD clips on an HP Pavillion dv6653 notebook, with an intel dual core processor(1.66 GHz) and 2 GB of ram.

Just make a precomp with the clip with twixtor in it. Then add a mask to the precomp.

Effects and Presets -> Animation Presets -> Behaviors -> Fade Out Over Layer Below / Fade In Over Layer Below

That's an odd one, never heard of that before. I'm not even finding anything online.
Usually when they tell you to reinstall its a BS answer b.c they don't know whats wrong.
It could work, but I really don't know.
