These are really good tips, but about the rock music. All too often all I hear in montages is rap. Now, I'm as normal a 19 year old guy can be, but I absolutely hate 99% of all rap. It's mindless music that makes the amateur person seem skilled without due. The music I generally use in a montage is instrumental music, like those usually found in movie or video game soundtracks. One such group that produces perfect music for this sort of thing is called Immediate Music. They've made music for countless movies and it's all really good, very clear defined beats, with an underlying rythm that sets the pace without even having to think about it.
I think that if everyone followed these rules, and just thought about what they were showing the world (because the Internet is a vicious beast), then we might get something really good going. I've seen (and made) way too many montages that had crappy music paired up with overwhelming effects use, and horrible or mediocre gameplay, and it just ruins the experience and gives you a headache. |

Real Talk :P
Seriously, great advice, I hate over-edited vids. |

This is a life lesson. Seriously, I don't see such a problem on H3F in my experience, but on other sites such as YouTube or Vimeo, I do see some unoriginal work, and I think you should post something like this on both sites.

Hey, XxScotTrickxX here.
I've got a buncha clips PERFECT for a halo 3 funtage/montage thing. Only problem, I've got no way to transfer clips from my XBox to my PC, and even if I could do that, I've got no editing software. The clips are great, but getting them in one video is where I needsomeone. If someone out there like bought some equipment, but doesn't have the right amount of clips, I'll dualtage w/ you. Add me as a friend, and I'll show you some clips, or fileshare them to you so you can watch them yourself. I really don't care what you do with my clips as long as they're in the montage, not an over-edited montage, and the music is kinda decent. Music Ideas Intro - Office Theme Montage Song(s) - Iggy Pop ft. Teddy Bears - Punkrocker Song(s) by Anberlin Just please, no overused songs. I've been trying to get a montage going for quite some time. Your help would make my day/week/month/year/2 years/not going any farther. |

I just recently made this montage. This is my first montage and editing experience. I tried to sync it as much as I could, and I believe it turned out quite nice. ( Watch while you can, because I don't know if there are copyrights or not.) Leave good comments
