I think that this game will take place at the end of Halo 3. I think that it will be taking back the planet Reach. It was lost at the being of Halo.

[rant] i dont understand why people are even thinking they'll have shields... they're ODSTs, they dont have shields. people say you have to sneak around where-as spartans are in-your-face.... which is false, read the books, spartans are trained to be stealthy. it's real simple. i look forward to this game and as for speculations, someone had a thread in the Halo 3 General referring to some lines in Halo 3 where you here marines over the comm. channels claiming ot be some recon team keeping an eye on the Ark. i think that'll play a roll in this game, because as you can tell, the covenant didnt pack up and leave after the prophet jumped out and they still have forces occupying the area. blah blah blah [/rant]
