I find that breathing in air keeps me from choking.
But in all seriousness, try relaxing your muscles while you play. Especially your arms and hands. I normally find it easier to aim like that.
I think you'll only be able to get overkills that often when you finally get past that triple and you brain suddenly clicks with an "I GOT IT!" To do that, it's mostly luck, but you can try putting yourself in a different state of mind with music or something else.
