Incorrect. No software can damage hardware, lol. Unless it hust makes your hardware really really hot, which isn't going to happen.

At the very least it could cause you to keep going redbar for a good few days. |

Interesting for sure.

As I stated no software can damage hardware unless it causes overheating. A computer virus will not "break" your harddrive nor will it destroy "sector zero" as an email many years ago lead many people to believe. And if you know people who IP Flood or have been Flooded and they say their sh.t broke from it then they are mentally retarded. They couldn't get on the internet for a few minutes big whoop. And when they hit their little 'stop' button or whatever then the Flooding stops, which means it won't keep you red bar for days, lol. Just unplug your sh.t and let it pwoer cycle and you're fine. As a matter of fact MOST routers have an option to prevent DDoS attacks. Like I previously stated - learn what you're talking about before you try to talk about it. Here is a Wiki page on many types of Denial of Service (DoS, DDoS, PDoS). There is one type, called a PDoS (Permanent Denial of Service) where they physically 'hack' into your router and update it with modified firmware to 'brick' a router or modem. This is similar to 'bricking' a PSP. So yes, somebody can destroy your router, but not by host booting, lol. And like I said, your router most likely has a setting to prevent host booting scenarios. I would be willing to bet that nobody, if anybody, on Xbox Live knows how to PDoS which would require some time and patience. Also note the particular type of attack called an 'Unintentional Attack' which has the same effect of a host boot or DoS but is caused when a website does not have enough bandwidth to support a large amount of connections. This proves my point to you about how all a DoS/DDoS is is a large amount of connections being transmitted to one particular IP Address causing a large ping. EDIT - What you're saying is that just using your router to the point where your internet connection is really slow will potentially destroy your router? Think about what you're saying. ![]() My router does not accept pings yet I can still get hostbooted so you fail, as anyone from xFear or tsgh or CT, they will tell you what you need to know. Message cT existence, he has around 4,000 college XR2 bots and seeing as he sells hostbooters and bots I think he knows more than you which inturn he has told me everything QFT please ![]() Also you tell me to unplug the router which Is what I said in my previous post. Not all routers can break from it but some are substantially worse than others and just cant get back to their normal state. And the way it breaks it is just by bassically overloading it with packets which im not 100% sure but Im guessing it makes it hot. Also many people can do PDoS but ofcourse it takes time, and 99% of people can be hit off-line as there are many different ways. I know quote you 'learn what you're talking about before you try to talk about it.' ![]() Also im not saying its a bad thread as most of it is true and helpful/ Last edited by DARK4NGEL; 01-27-2009 at 12:23 AM. |
