Just watched Lost River. Obviously draws a ton from Winding Refn/Cianfrance. It was just okay. Showed some promise for future Gosling directions.
Watching Kill Me Three Times now. Trailer was promising.
Suicide Squad raised my expectations 10-fold. Looks like DC's counter to Guardians of the Galaxy, except darker (possibly better).
They raised my expectations for this movie a lot after the last trailer, really looking forward to it. Whereas Deadpool was something I really looked forward to at first, but the recent trailers kind of let me down in several ways.
I watched a Screener of the revenant a few days ago. Thought it was god damn incredible. One of the most brutal movies I've seen in a while, completely unforgiving. Definitely seeing it again in theaters.
The Revenant was my favorite film of the year. Loved it. Incredibly cinematic. Probably another Oscar win for the cinematographer. I saw Deadpool last night and wasn't blown away. I went in with high expectations since everyone has been saying it's amazing. It was actually pretty funny. I'd probably give it a 7.5/10 if i had to rate it.
10x more excited for Suicide Squad than Batman v Superman. For some reason I really prefer these larger ensemble super hero movies to the movies that only have a few in them. Also I'm really excited to see what Jared Leto brings to the table for the Joker.
Unpopular Opinion: I think (if the script is written well) Ben Affleck will be just as good a Batman as Christian Bale was.
The Witch: 4/10
i was surprised to read positive reviews for this jawn. BAD acting/dialogue, boring characters, excruciatingly slow pacing which doesn't add to the suspense, and an uninteresting made this movie seem longer than it was. The final sequence which the entire movie was building up to was not worth the wait at all. On top of being a bad movie, it's a bad horror movie. It wanted to be "Shining-esque" by including generally disturbing images rather than cliche jumpscares, but only succeeds once at capturing a frightening image (the scene with the mother breastfeeding the crow). The only redeemable quality, which is mostly why it's getting praised, is that it had good cinematography. So if that's literally the only thing you care about in a movie then go see it.
Top 5 movies anyone?
For me...
5. Lord of the Rings (All 3, but if I had to choose one I would pick The Two Towers)
4. Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade
3. Donnie Darko
2. Generation War (It's a Netflix 3 part series but pretty much a 3 hour movie.)
1. The Godfather (1 of course)
And is Star Wars worth watching? This sounds really fuckin' dumb but I have never sat down to watch the original trilogy or any of them really. Also how is the new one?
^Wow that's awesome.
Don't go watch Bat vs Supes, guys. It's not nearly as good as either of the latest movies the characters starred in. But I really liked Batman in the movie. Had that dark Frank Miller merciless crusader thing going on. Fucking burned and shot people lol. Not really hyped for any superhero movies anymore though.
IP Man 1 and 2, loved em. If you like martial arts movies, you will love these.
3rd one is out, but I haven't seen it yet.
I watched the 3rd one about a week ago and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first 2. Fight scenes were all as good as the previous 2 but I think the previous 2 made you hate the villains a lot more if that makes sense. I'd still recommend watching ip man 3 if you enjoyed the first 2 movies.
I watched the conjuring 2 last night. It was pretty good. Story line was good. A few jump scares got me but other than that it wasn't that scary.
Looks pretty much like Blade-Runner but with a Japanese touch. Doubt it will be much like the original GotS, but it seems like they used a lot of scenes from it.
Idc much about the whitewashing controversy. I'm still going to enjoy this if it's good.
Main villain is Kuze which is from second gig. Trailer shows opening scene from movie (i think). They said they were taking inspiration from all of the source material so who knows how it is going to end up.

The Hateful Eight was really good, pretty sure Tarantino could say nigga 17x in a convo and I wouldn't even notice. Watched Wall Street Money Never Sleeps for like the millionth time when I was messing around with ETFs last week and it actually paid off, big time lol.
And whoever mentioned IP Man, watach Raid & Raid 2 Redemption
Has anyone ever seen the new trailer for "IT"
It looks awesome. I loved the first miniseries and the book. IT was one of the first books I read more than once.
The miniseries scared the hell outta me, never read the book. I hope the new film is good.
I saw Moonlight, it's great and I recommend it to everyone.
