Halo 5: Guardians Discussion | New ViDoc
I don't pre-order games unless it's something from Nintendo that will probably be under supplied (Fire Emblem: Awakening being the last title I pre-ordered). It's a horrible practice that is beneficial to no one but industry execs.
For Halo 5 I'll probably wait a few weeks to first of all ensure the game is functional, even then I'm likely to buy it used from a second hand retailer like Glyde. I don't believe in supporting either 343 or Microsoft with this title and as such elect to not directly hand my money to them.

100% agree with this. Most likely going to wait for the 1st/2nd price drop before even considering picking this up.
They're not fooling me this time.
I probably will, but that's just me.
But why would you do that?
lol simply because I want too. Also, I love the campaigns.
Look, I had fun in the Halo 5 beta, I had fun in Halo 4, I had fun in all other Halo's before that, I'm sure I will have fun in the final release. Will it be my favorite Halo? I doubt it, but I'm sure I will still have fun, and when I don't have fun, I'll take a break and go to another Halo.
I know a lot of people on here want to "stick it to the man" and not get the game, that is completely fine, we all have a reason not to buy this game or trust 343 as a company, but I would be lying if I said I'm not going to get the game.
but, that's just me.
I just don't understand how you can choose to financially support a company that hasn't released a single major functioning installment to the Halo series at this point, and keeps shoving their CoD-esque version of Halo down our throats.
Halo CE Anniversary was great. Halo 4 had an amazing launch in terms of finding games online and everything working, the campaign was good, the multiplayer was just okay. MCC was a disaster (we all know that) Halo 5 Beta worked pretty damn well and it was fun.
Halo 4 was way more like CoD than Halo 5 will be, and I think Halo 5 will turn out to be good, not the Halo's we know currently, but a good game. It bugs me when people say Halo 5 isn't even Halo anymore. Let's take a look at the transition from Halo CE to Halo 2. Halo 2 was a COMPLETELY different game than Halo CE, so when people say Halo 5 isn't even Halo, I feel like they are just saying that because they heard other people say it and they don't know what they're talking about. Games evolve, it's crazy to think that they won't, and if you break Halo 4 & Halo 5 down to it's core, it's just a Halo game.
I also don't want Halo to die. Answer me a question. Lets say nobody buys Halo 5 and 343 goes bankrupt. What do you want to happen next? Do you want Halo to not exist anymore? What is your solution to keeping Halo alive?
But I guess when it really comes down to it. I just don't care about the politics, I really don't. I'm going to buy the game and have fun.

I completely and respectfully disagree with your entire post.
You don't think a ten day difference in release is going to impact sales? I can see a ton of potential buyers just holding off the week and a half for BLOPS 3, or the 21 or however many days until Battlefront. This industry is smothering itself with all of these holiday releases.
No because it's two different audiences and the games have always been released in November. Halo 5 will win the sales battle anyways (on Xbox).
Only thing it might effect is player base

Halo 3 - September 25, 2007
Reach - September 14, 2010
??
Also, your argument doesn't hold up. Saying it's different audiences but will have an impact on player base... (I know you meant towards sales, I just don't see it not impacting sales despite Halo being console exclusive)
No fucking clue how you think Halo will outsell CoD, BlackOps2 had immensely more sales than Halo 4 on 360 in the first month alone.

I'm so curious about the Halo 5 story now after reading the links you provided me, Dante. I'm so hyped now.
Even Spartan: Strike. Need that to come to the console as a arcade game ASAP

In addition to that, people have been receiving emails with pieces of images as a part of the marketing campaign. Here's what has been pieced together so far.
BLUE team can be seen in the bottom left (John, Kelly, and Linda so far assuming Fred is in the last bit that's missing). Across from them is Locke and his team of S-IV's
setting up the inevitable show down between the two it would appear.
Amazing post. Halsey's part in all this will be crazy. The dark, illusive undertones of ONI will come to light.
The inevitable boss in the background looks like fun.
I honestly nominate you as the next moderator man. You're an A1 poster and care so much about the franchise. Interested in the position?

You should check out how shitty the sales records were for AW compared to the rest of the CoDs. It doesn't matter what the numbers were for halo 4 vs BO2.
Just wait and see
