Big Team Battle is a great addition to multiplayer, and it's something to break the monotony. 4 maps is a lot better than 3, so it brings more to the table than Warzone, even though it is packed full of features that BTB doesn't have. Warzone got old very, very fast to me.
As expected, BTB is ranked, because social is not a thing anymore thanks to Ghostayame. It's great for the competitive players, and especially the BTB teams that we all know and love (right), who run 8's like it's MLG. But really, it's great that they have their own place to dwindle and sweat.
Myself though? I don't like taking BTB too seriously, so it's also great that I can control my own rank by absolutely destroying myself in my placement matches. Turns out, it's too early to hit Bronze tier, which is rock bottom. I had 10 losses, a K/D of more than -10, and less than 5% accuracy on my shots hit. No objectives player, minimal kills, and every death I could seek out. I played the worst I could possibly play, and still got put in the Silver tier, so there's a tip for anyone who wants to enjoy their time in the playlist -- wait.
Otherwise, I really enjoy the maps. In my placement matches I was able to play every map at least once, and I made myself familiar with pretty much everything as in the time I had on my disposal. I didn't want to play the matches anyway, so why not explore the maps a little to kill time? I like them all quite a bit since they are remakes/imaginings of previous Halo maps, but it still bothers me to no end that this is what they give us when they made the conscious (don't even fucking kid me) choice to delay forge, so we won't be sour when they provide us forged maps to justify the lack of proper, full-fledged maps that were released with the game. We're still depending on them to bring us the content, so we can't complain no matter what they serve us.
Other than that, I still think this is a good thing. BTB was sorely needed, and I've experienced little to no frame-rate issues -- or issues at all -- so I'm expecting it to slip up to the top population wise. I don't know what else to say, the 6.w/e GB update nearly made me blow my brains out? 5 mbps download which goes on strike every half hour is not made for todays digital games.
