Hip Hop Discussion Thread

The whole thing about this album dropping is really interesting to me. Apparently it was just a tape, but Drake just dropped it as an album so he could be done with his four record contract with Young Money. 'Lessons from the 6' or whatever it is will be the "real" album I guess. I'm not trying to break news here as I'm sure if you care about Drake at all you would already know, but it's still interesting.

drake can't rap well. his verse in blessings fucking blows

his old stuff before he was famous was fire though

Can't wait for Action's new album. This nigga is too nice.

Album artwork comes from the movie Bloodsport if you're a Jean Claude Van Damme fan.

QFT.

those are my favorite songs by retch lol, but I can't stand when people say Drake can't rap..  I'm not even big on drake like that.. but this new shit he dropped is fire.

Anyways, PSG was obviously Retch's best project, but Da$h has been more consistent, so far. We'll see how FTW is, only song that is nice off it so far is Hunnit Bandz. Sometimes that kid can be too reckless for his own good.

Mr. Wonderful is gonna be something amazing man, gonna see Action, along with Dash, retch and many others at "Rolling Loud" in Miami.. Bout to be wild.

Dont even really like drake but new tape is fire

Drake's old stuff sucks.

Bronsolini gonna have album of the year.

My favorite artist, Cyhi The Prynce, dropped a new mixtape and he delivers big time, like always.

Drake is really trying to force this whole 6 thing huh.

I don't know what song it is but he says "Runnin through the 6 with my woes." and some average rapper/Twitter presence VH1PNUT tweeted out "Running through the 6 with my hoes." and I was crying.

Still haven't listened to any new Drake, don't plan on it anytime soon.

When he says 6 he's just talking about Toronto

Where he says 6 he's just talking about Toronto

I had no idea 6 was one of the numbers of the Toronto area code...

Haha yep, 416.

He says 6 a lot in this tape. I don't mind it though, I'll always love Drake even though he's overrated as fuck.

Why not

im really likin the new drake album.  you have to listen to it more than one time through with any other album to get the full effect

I'm fuckin wit this, I'm a fan of Earl. And cuz fuck Drake that's why.

Can you please shut the fuck up about Drake? We get it, you don't like him.

Let me get this straight, you're allowed to dick ride him but I can't hate on em? Fuck outta here.

Dick ride? I'm pretty sure I had one post saying the new album was sweet, and that's it. However, you feel the need to continuously post about how much you don't like him.
Zeus asked me why I haven't listened to him and I answered him. Drake sucks, get over it.

You missing out, used to be like you

When I listen to rap/hip-hop I wanna hear some real shit, lyricism, a crazy story, and or some sentimental shit. There's a difference between sentimental and soft shit too. But I got other genres for sentimental stuff like Rock and R&B, so most of the rap/hip-hop I listen to is the first three categories I mentioned. I'm not missin out by any means cuz I don't limit myself to one genre.

And it's not like I don't listen to Drake, he's everywhere so it's impossible not to hear his shit but I'm in no rush to peep his new shit cuz he isn't an artist I tend to keep up with.

What are your fav artists outside of hiphop?

So you're obviously a fan of Biggie, one of the realest dudes out there. How do you feel about big L? Pharcyde&Felt are hot too

And Hopsin are my fav lyricists.

I'm not the biggest Drake fan, I want to try and listen to his new album without any preconceived notions though.

Bob Dylan is probably my favorite artist of all time. This is the type of stuff I usually listen to when I'm not listenin to rap/hip-hop.

Big L and Biggie are them niggas. Big L would've been bigger in the underground scene cuz he didn't have someone like Diddy take him under his wing and show him how to appeal to a wider audience but in terms of delivery and lyricism I got Big L and then Biggie. That '97 freestyle with Jay-Z is unmatched, Big L's verses were ridiculous. I'm a huge Jay-Z fan and even though he was young that shit was trash from him.

That white dude is Term K. I absolutely love Capital Steez and MF doom. quality posting on your part. You a fan of Captain Murphy?
Flyo hasn't dropped enough work as Captain Murphy for me to establish a solid opinion yet but I fuck with his rap and his mixes. Check out the music he makes underneath his Flyo alias if you haven't yet.
