NBA Discussion Thread
Spurs had a solid lead going into the second quarter, and slowly but surely the Mavs have just turned on the nitrous. Pop is pissed. Still got almost 5 minutes so the Spurs have a chance, but every time they try to stay in the game they make a silly foul, or don't get the stops they need. Monte Ellis is violating them. :/
EDIT - He dropped 48. Holy shit.
i get it, but what the warriors are doing right now is historical
#1 in offensive efficiency, #1 in defensive efficiency, #1 in pace, and #1 in point differential BY FAR (warriors are +10.9 while the cavs are like +4.6) the warriors point differential spread is like the 3rd or 4th best in NBA history
its crazy
wtf is this
i just made a bet with my friend for $20 that the warriors would go farther than the cavaliers in the NBA playoffs. I am astonished right now that my friends are siding with my friend. I can understand that maybe I'm a homer, but the warriors are right now a historically good team
Cavs beat Golden State in the Finals. That's my prediction.
look, all i'm saying is that this is the worst 6th man of the year campaign i can remember. analysts basically have it between lou williams and rudy gobert and gobert shouldn't even really be considered 6 man because he's been starting for a long time now
speights has a higher PER than lou williams and is shooting 50% from the floor. sure, his defense isn't that great but his offensive production has been fantastic this year. i'm definitely reaching with shaun livingston, but he's the definition of a "stats do not tell the full story" kind of guy. his defense is fantastic, his vision and passing ability are top notch, and his mid range game is money. the offense really doesn't skip a beat when he's in the game and it allows them to run curry off screens and get open
technically a great 6th man should be put in a game and there should be 0 drop off in offensive production. those two guys help the warriors achieve that. so why am i so crazy for thinking they should be in the discussion with rudy fucking gobert and lou williams?
Because it's a stats award. There is a reason why J.R Smith has won that award and trust me, it has nothing to do with defense. There are a shit ton of great rotational players in the NBA who will never win the 6th man of the year award because that's not what the award is about. You can argue that it should be, but as the award currently stands, yes you are crazy for thinking they should win. Speights can be in that discussion pretty limitedly but putting Livingston in that discussion is honestly borderline dumb.
People who are fit for that award are basically stat stuffers. Lou Williams and Isaiah Thomas are basically the top 2 candidates. Speights can make an argument but I sort of doubt he wins unless they decide this year that the field is weak and they go with the fact that he is on a team that wins more (which has never really been considered previously so I doubt it).
