I'm so pissed off I feel like crying. Went to the store with my guy to get food, he was bagging the food up and the cashier looked at me and said something in Dutch. My guy said something, I looked back and forth and said "I don't understand?" And he goes "she wants to look in your purse..." "Why?" "To make sure you're not stealing" I was flabbergasted and she looked at me and talked in Dutch again. My guy got pissed and said some shit I don't know and I just blindly let her look in my purse. The next girl behind us (middle eastern) comes along and she does the same thing to her. The cashier now says in English to her that she has to do it.... But she didn't do it to the woman in front of us that was blonde hair and white.
The more I think about it the more I get upset. I don't know if it was because my guy is half Moroccan but that is extremely insulting to do as there's a line behind you and everything. I wish I had refused and asked if she had reason otherwise no but I was too much of a punk.
This just amplifies what I've been feeling since being here. I've barely left the house and have felt like crap because it's lonely and everything is so different. I was getting short with my guy yesterday because program after program is in Dutch and I'm completely overwhelmed with it when I don't understand anything and feel so much like an outsider. :(

Something felt off to me about it.The girl in front of us had a huuuuge purse and mine is very tiny cross body that fits my phone, wallet, and passport. I'm also dressed nicely, make up and hair is done and don't look like a slob. :/ When we went to a different store no one asked to check me. I don't know why they feel like they can do that, it's rude. :(
In the U.S. if they suspect you of stealing they'll pull you aside before you're even in the line usually or regardless you're pulled aside and confronted privately.

lighten up and go do something, dont sit around all day thinking about how you feel this and that and just get out there. Ive never heard of a foreigner actually disliking the Dutch, they're just weirder out a bit now and again, like everyone is in another culture.
If you wanna come down and have a drink or lunch or whatever Im cool with that, dont think I can do a full day or something but I can probably show you around for a bit and make you feel better with my awesomeness. I dont want you to be down here lol, thats not what we're about
Tuesday and Thursday are always such a grind. On campus from 8am-9pmSame. 9:30 am - 10 pm. I'm running the school newspaper/magazine so I can't leave until everyone else does.
I recently quit as the sports editor because I was getting paid next to nothing and I hated what we were doing. I'm also doing a lot of other things in the same field that are 100x better in many ways, so I just said the hell with it.

Tomorrow we plan to go to Amsterdam so I'm hoping that helps, I'm thinking it may be more "American". I don't dislike the Dutch I've just felt lost I guess. Everyone says they speak English but I've never been anywhere where it's not primary so it's taking me time to adjust. ill let you know though, it would be fun to meet some of yall. Feel less alone even though we've never met haha.

no Tapatalk, the in-browser mobile functionality is solid tho.
First time posting on the new site from my phone. Fucking solid. In love with this. Never liked tapatalk.
The WYSIWYG editor needs a lot of work on mobile yet, I find it to be annoying as hell to use for anything other than simple text. Adding videos or images is a pain (although it works).
Will be making improvements on this soon, it's a high priority.
ill be in amsterdam as well tomorrow (afternoon mostly). snap me something when your there.
