The Official Poker/Gambling Thread

I believe 8, possibly 9. Will continue to update MTT results and maybe even pics of chip stacks during them. Also, Google about Pstars and CA teaming together. Very interesting stuff developing.

I need to find a place to play here in Seattle. I would love to get back into it.

November 9 is set. No idea what that dude did to get nearly 75% of chips in play, but god damn he better not mess it up

Put some money on Carbon for the first time in a year or so.

Ended up winning an 8$ buy-in tourney. Got $230 for first.

Actually my biggest cash in an online tourney. Funny that it happened now, as opposed to when I used to be really into it.

How many people entered? I feel like I've watched so much poker I should be better than I am. Like my whole thought process is "do I think he's on bs?" If so float and hope to bluff somehow later, like I don't go through all the possible hands he could have on every street or I don't pay attention to bet sizing or potion mainly because the casino I go to.. those guys don't play at that level except for maybe a few guys

201 people entered.

I can understand that. Though I think getting good at poker comes from playing (and doing so attentively), not watching. There's a huge difference between watching someone else make the decisions and making them for yourself.

I know you've been playing. I'm just saying, I think there is more to be gained from that time you spend playing than any time spent watching.

Oh I know that for sure. I can play local tourneys but they're $15 and $20 with 15 min blind limits. You get so many callers and with such bad people, I don't really waste my time with it anymore. Seemed like the better I got at poker, the worse I cashed there haha. Then casino I don't exactly have the bank roll so I stopped playing there in the mean time. Will be playing on my birthday here in a few weeks though
Played tonight at the casino. I would say I did well. Cashed in for $300 and came out with $1840 in like 4.5 hrs or so. I wasn't getting big cards at all, just smashing the flops, or hitting flushes/trips etc. Like I never had to raise bluff someone out. I was always betting or calling and hitting my cards, no ridiculous strategy. I'm happy haha

Seemed like the better I got at poker, the worse I cashed

Story of my fucking life

Played 14hrs of poker. 1/2, lost $700. Played all this night and was up but run top set vs AK on qj10 flop for just 350 on flop, plus whatever preflop. Then my last like 90 AJ vs qq. 700 for 14 hrs isn't bad I wouldn't think. Then the previous night lost a big one AA < QQ on like a Q9x flop. So much for my birthday weekend

Went to the track Friday night to play the $110 buy in $4k Guaranteed tournament. Maybe 3 hours in and I have slightly above average. I ended up shoving post flop with a flush draw and got called by a worse flush draw so I was an insane favorite. He rivered a non club Jack to suck out on me and knock me out. I went to the 1/2 cash game and there were 2 big, notable hands.

First I was sitting around $125 and middle position. It folded to me and I opened for $12 with AsQh. I got one caller behind me and everyone else folds. Flop comes Ac-Qs-4s. What a fucking dream. I bet $15 and she calls. Turn comes a 9s. Fuck. I knew based on her play she could easily have Ax10x or KcQc, but she could also have picked up the flush.

I didn't want to puss out and make it obvious I was scared just in case she didn't have it and picked up my weakness, so I threw $25 out and she raised to $50. I figured she had it but it was $25 into like a $130 pot when I have top 2 pair and nut flush draw so the call was ezpz. River comes a 2s so I hit the nuts, tossed in the last ~$50 and she called before flipping over KsJs. She was all mad at me for "rivering" her, but fuck you, you "turned" me.

Not too much action besides a few little hands here and there for the next 2 hours until I woke up with Jh10h. I had a little over $500 and I was in middle position. Early position opens for 12, I call and then the dealer makes it $30. First raiser calls and I wanted to fold, but figured we all had giant stacks and this could be prime time to come outta nowhere (especially if they both had AK for example) so I call. Flop comes 8h-9h-3d. Early position checks which put me at ease at first, then I checked to the dealer who bet $50. Early position then check raises to $125.

Now I'm in the fucking worst position ever. Everyone had $500+ stacks at the beginning of the hand and I'm supposed to commit this much so soon? I figured I couldn't be a pussy and I didn't know or care what they had, I just decided I wasn't gonna get away from this hand. So I shoved. Dealer calls and early position starts freaking out. He was so pissed, kept saying, "How the fuck do I check raise it to $125 in a 1/2 game and then fucking fold? which I thought was hilarious. He ended up folding and showing QcQd assuming one of us had aces or kings. The other guy fucking flips over AhKh. I mean, I know I made the move with the draw, but my heart fucking SANK when I saw that because my luck is shit and I don't outdraw that. Turn tosses the 5h which fucking killed me. I had like a $1,300-$1,400 pot lost right in front of me. But..fear not. The magic of all magics, holy of all holies. The glory that is the river card hath blessed me on this very day with the gift of the elusive 2 outer. The Qh dropped for my straight flush and everyone starts yelling and shit.

Bout time I hit another straight flush live, and what a way to do it.

Was there a BBJ? You must have at least won high hand right?

BBJ wouldn't apply to just beating an ace high flush rofl...

They run different high hand promotions all the time. When I went it was a ticket to the monthly $315 buy in. I can't go to that so I just sold it to someone for $250.

Damn, XYOX. That's awesome. Grats on the straight flush.

Also lol at the girl saying you rivered her.

Had pocket 9s. 8 high flop. Guy bets, I call. U check to him and he puts me all in. Turn wasn't anything higher than a 8. Luckily hit a 9 on the river cause he had kings. Saved me haha. Ended up coming up $200 in a 1/2. The guy I was playing against is one of the better players. Never know what he has. No way I was putting him on kings

won this and $400 in a $20 10k this week.

1400?! Damn. I need to get on there and play some tourneys. There was a live tourney like an hour and a half away from me. $50 buy in, 25 rebut but didn't know how many people would show. And didn't want to possibly spend the 200 I just won at the casino last night Also ran into some coolers or bad beats. Pocket 4s. 477 flop. King turn. X on the river. Ended up getting it all in on the river. He flips over k7. Brutal. A5. 544 flop X turn 5 river. Guy leads out for like 25 I think. Guy next to me pops it up to like 75? I put first guy on a four and only a four, second guy a 5. Thought about it. Then put first guy on 5 and next guy on pocket fours. Just call. Other guy calls. I was right, he did have Quads. I was so close to putting him all in. Dodged a bullet there!
You can be as good as you want.  Effort, dedication and a real love for the game is key.  The money I win is just a bonus.
Gotta love those nights where you're card dead and nothing is going your way. Get few good hands prelop, raise em, c bet the flop a good size, people stick around and re raise you so they're almost never bluffing. Or do like I do and run into queens and I had top pair of Jacks. He never 3 bet bis queens. Oh well. Shit happens

Last time I played was the last time I posted in here lol. Been so busy with work and trying to save up a cushion so I could move into my own place (which I finally did like a week ago!). I've spent like $2,500 already since moving in since I didn't have anything of my own (furniture, appliances, everything) but earlier this week I had one of those 15 minute conversation with someone where they're like, "you mean poker isn't just luck?" and it reminded me how much I enjoyed the game when I realized how I was talking about it.

I'd have to teach myself like everything again rofl, the rust would be so real

Watching Tonka, Staples, Carver, etc on twitch is pretty helpful imo

I don't play online at all.. I just play with the homies once or twice a week, we just play a 20 to 50 dollar game. My friends are honestly completely horrible at poker. I feel kinda bad cuz I normally stack one or two of them each time we play. Every now and then I'll go to the casino and play 1/3 or 2/5. It's just a long ass drive for me to get out there.

Llama, is it hard to cash out from Bovada?

I get my checks within 5 business days. Easy as pie.

Dayum, not bad at all... What kind of proof do you have to provide to them to cash out? And do the people at the bank ever question why the hell you're getting checks from Lithuania? lol
Just some basic info like name, dob, copy of id/cc.  You deposit a check via ATM and it clears in 1 business day.
Hit quads tonight. First hand this guy plays he raises it to 35 in $1/$2. There may have been a straddle, not sure. I'm a fish so I with 66. Flop comes a 6. Bets, I call. 6 comes on turn He bets like 75. I shove for like 70 more. He ends up calling. The board was pretty dry so I don't know how he managed the call
http://postimg.org/image/nc5jnz4yl/ How does this person count 22 outs? I count 19
5d, 10d, 2 8's and 2 9's. 6 outs. Where the hell are you getting that many?
Any 5 or 10 would make us the straight. Any diamond would get use the flush since he doesn't have one in his hand. 2 8s, 2 9s, 4 diamonds used, 9 left. 3 5s left, 3 10s left since we can't count the 5 and 10 of diamonds since we already count them. 2+2+9+6=19
He already has a boat dumbass
Fuuuuuck. Why did that even cross my mind? Then 6 outs. I saw the set, I saw the paired board.. it never even clicked
Rofl all good. Just be happy you weren't at the table hahaha
I've been trying to be more disciplined in my poker. I have to learn I can't win every hand and I don't have to c bet every single flop, especially multi way. And not calling with marginal hands even though the price is good. The Poker Bank on YouTube has good advice or strategies if you guys want to check it out
