Looks awesome!

It sure looked pretty but I don't think it's gonna work out well. part of what was so good about bioshock was the atmosphere.
And why "infinite"? what was wrong with bioshock 3?

Well Ken Levine is back working on this so I have high expectations (not just hopes) for this game.

I was also reading that Irrational Games has been at this since they finished BioShock. Take into account that this is coming out in 2012, I'd say they have plenty of time to get their vision perfect and perfect the gameplay.

Watched the trailer on xbl. The atmosphere seems really different. Air balloon cities? Hopefully it comes together.

What about the atmosphere doesn't seem deliberately realized? It may not be under the ocean, but that's just a setting preference. This whole thing somewhat reminds me of Laputa.

I'm digging the whole idea so far, but it's kind of annoying (if BioShock Infinite doesn't have any canon ties) to slap BioShock on the name.

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with Andrew Ryan creating Rapture. Ken Levine said there's more going on then people realize.

I hope they're at least in the same game universe though. I don't mind if the games don't have connections but I hope they keep BioShock all in one universe and acknowledge that Rapture was built after Columbia.

Well the ARG for BioShock 2 goes into pretty specific detail about Andrew Ryan's life before Rapture and how/why he built it.

I also agree with you, but I think the reason this takes place before Rapture is to simply not need to deal with it. Like I said, I've heard that 2K basically told Ken he needed to keep this within the BioShock universe in order to make this original IP; Ken did not want to continue with BioShock. Who knows, we got 2 years!
